An interdisciplinary, integrated unit written on the branches of government for fourth grade.

A democracy must have educated citizens in order to survive. This interdisciplinary, integrated unit is designed to give students a basic understanding of our Nations democratic system at the federal, state and local levels. It will also be beneficial to those students who are interested in a governmental or political career. Students will discover, understand, and apply the fundamental concepts of democracy. Students will engage in various hands-on, minds-on, experimental, and informational activities involving multiple ways of learning. The students will learn to identify and name the functions of government at the three levels and understand their rights and responsibilities as a United States citizen.
